Who knew an app filled with trash could be such a treasure? Baw Baw’s new Waste App puts local rubbish and recycling information right at your fingertips. You’ll never miss bin night again!

Available from both iPhone and Android app stores, the new app allows residents to conveniently access information relevant to their waste and recycling services from the convenience of their own phone.

The app lets you set bin night reminders, access collection schedules and recycling information, and provides heaps of handy tips to help residents learn more about waste, its impacts, and how we can minimise our own environmental impacts.

The launch of the new application will also help Council to reduce its environmental footprint by transitioning away from the resource-intensive printing, packaging and greenhouse gas emissions associated with the bulk mail out of waste booklets and bin collection calendar.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe has downloaded the app and said she’s impressed with its easy-to-use functionality.

“I know too well how easy it is to miss bin night, or confuse which bin goes out which week, but that’s impossible now with the launch of this impressive new app,” Cr McCabe said.

“The new app also takes the thinking away from what goes in which bin. The A-Z of Waste Guide in the app tells you exactly where many common household items belong once we’re finished with them.”

The app also contains useful information on local transfer stations, their locations and opening hours, as well as drop-off locations for people collecting for the Container Deposit Scheme.

The Baw Baw Waste App will be updated with relevant information over time and will be a reliable resource for residents as our waste services evolve.
