Australia Day Community Events
There are number of community events held across the Shire to celebrate Australia Day (Tuesday 26 January) in 2021.

COVIDsafe practices and requirements will apply at all events. Please remember to check-into any event that you attend, socially distance and sanitise your hands regularly. To ensure the communities safety, each event has completed a COVIDsafe event checklist, you can find these at the bottom of the page.
Aberfeldy - Saturday 30 January
12:00pm at Cullens Flat (Cullens Track)
Join in a free community lunch and flag raising ceremony.
12:00pm at the Darnum BBQ shelter (near the big stump)
Celebrate Australia Day with a free barbecue lunch.
8:00am BBQ in Civic Park
Enjoy a free community barbecue, a morning tea, music entertainment, kids activities, community group displays and a flag-raising ceremony.
Erica - Sunday 24 January
9:30am arrival for 10:30am cricket match at the Erica Caravan Park
$5 entry per person to play, proceeds go to the CFA. Call the caravan park on 5165 3315 to secure a place. Enjoy a sausage sizzle by the Lions, with drinks, a coffee van and baked spud van and available. BYO Picnic chairs and drinks.
6:00pm at the Hill End Community Centre (formerly Old Hill End School)
Celebrate with a flag raising ceremony and national anthem followed by a free barbecue including a trivia quiz.
6:00pm at Kydd-Parke Reserve
Join in a flag raising ceremony and national anthem followed by a free family barbecue.
4:30pm at the Labertouche Community Centre
Join in a family cricket match followed by a free barbecue. Cold drinks available to purchase. Bring the family for a fun-filled afternoon and evening.
7:00pm at the Narracan Public Hall
Celebrate Australia Day with a free barbecue.
12:00pm at the Shady Creek Hall
Free barbecue lunch and Aussie sweets. Enjoy entertainment, games, competitions and activities for a fun filled day.
12:00pm at the Tanjil South Hall
Join in a flag raising ceremony followed by a free family barbecue lunch including refreshments. Enjoy some Aussie music, a quiz and prizes for best dressed Aussie! BYO other drinks.
4:00 - 6.00pm at the Tetoora Road Community Centre
Join in the flag raising ceremony and national anthem, followed by free ice-cream in the paddock area where there will be shade. Friendly games for children and adults; back yard cricket on the tennis court and soccer in the paddock. Also a history display for viewing in the hall. BYO chairs to enjoy the shaded areas and watch the activities.
10:30am at Pioneer Park
Join in a flag raising ceremony and national anthem followed by a free family sausage sizzle.
8:00am at the Trafalgar Public Hall
Trafalgar’s Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year will be announced. Join in the annual free breakfast event – no bookings necessary. This event is run in partnership by TCDA, Trafalgar Lions and Trafalgar Public Hall.
10:15am arrival for 10:30am ceremony in Civic Park
UPDATE - Due to the inclement weather forecast for Tuesday 26 January 2021, this event will be relocated inside the West Gippsland Arts Centre theatre.
The community is invited to attend a formal Citizenship Ceremony hosted by Mayor Cr Danny Goss to welcome our newest Australian Citizens. A flag raising ceremony will be led by the Scouts and Girl Guides including a special performance by the Warragul Municipal Band.
Following the ceremony, join in a free community barbecue provided by the Warragul Lions Club with some drinks and vegetarian options available.
