There are number of community events held across the Shire to celebrate Australia Day (Thursday 26 January) in 2023.

Aberfeldy - Saturday 28 January
12:00pm at Cullens Flat (Cullens Track)
Join in a free community barbecue lunch, flag raising celebrations, music and entertainment.
Athlone - Thursday 26 January
11:30am - 2:30pm at the Athlone Hall
Join in a free community barbecue, flag-raising ceremony, placement of time capsule to celebrate 100 years of the Athlone Hall.
Cloverlea - Thursday 26 January
12:00pm at the Darnum Tree Stump
Celebrate Australia Day with a free community barbecue.
Drouin - Thursday 26 January
8:30am Drouin Civic Park
Enjoy a free community barbecue, morning tea, music entertainment, kids activities, community group displays and a flag-raising ceremony.
Erica - Saturday 28 January
9:30am arrival for 10:30am start at Erica Recreation Reserve
Cricket match, $10 entry per person to play, proceeds go to the CFA. Call the caravan park on 5165 3315 to secure a place.
Enjoy a sausage sizzle by the Lions, with drinks, a coffee van and baked spud van are available. BYO picnic chairs and drinks.
Hill End - Thursday 26 January
6:00pm at the Hill End Community Centre (formerly Old Hill End School)
Celebrate with a flag raising ceremony and national anthem followed by a free barbecue and a trivia quiz.
Labertouche - Thursday 26 January
4:30pm at the Labertouche Community Centre
Join in a family cricket match followed by a free barbecue. Cold drinks available to purchase.
Longwarry - Thursday 26 January
11:00am at Bennett Street Park
Flag raising ceremony, barbecue and kids activities.
Narracan - Thursday 26 January
7:00pm at the Narracan Hall
Celebrate Australia Day with a free family barbecue. BYO sides to share and/or sweets to share to make it a BBQ feast.
Neerim District - Thursday 26 January
10:30pm Craig Watts Skate Park
Live music and fun activities for kids including a jumping castle and face painting. Free family barbecue from 12:30pm with soft drinks, salads and sweets included. BYO picnics rugs, chairs and other beverages.
Rawson - Thursday 26 January
5:00pm Erica and District Historical Society, Pinnacle Drive, Rawson
Enjoy a free barbecue dinner, icy poles and kids activities.
Shady Creek - Thursday 26 January
12:00pm at the Shady Creek Hall

Tanjil South - Thursday 26 January
12:00pm at the Tanjil South Hall.
Flag-raising ceremony followed by a free family barbecue lunch including refreshments. Enjoy some Aussie music and a quiz! BYO other drinks.
Tetoora Road - Thursday 26 January
4:00pm - 7:00pm at the Tetoora Road Community Centre
Join in the flag raising ceremony, free activities, food and drink including; Barn Buddies, Facepainting, backyard cricket, history display, thong throwing, hula-hoops, skipping ropes, sausages, cake, fruit, ice-creams and drinks as we celebrate 100 years of the Tetoora Road Public Hall.
Trafalgar - Thursday 26 January
8:00am at the Trafalgar Public Hall
Free breakfast event - no booking necessary. Come along for the presentation of Trafalgar’s Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year awards.
Warragul - Thursday 26 January
10:00am- 12:45 pm West Gippsland Arts Centre
Australia Day Awards Presentation and Citizenship Ceremony in the West Gippsland Arts Centre Theatre.
12:30pm - 2:30pm West Gippsland Arts Centre Forecourt
Flag-raising ceremony, family-friendly activities, free community barbecue, Mel Pollard music entertainment, facepainting and games for the kids.
Yarragon - Thursday 26 January
8:30am Market Street Park (corner Market and Murray Streets)
Join in a flag raising ceremony with the local CFA, followed by a free breakfast of bacon and egg sandwiches and enjoy music by local talents, a guest speaker, traditional thong throwing contest and activities run by the CFA.
