Council is required to set an allowance for its Councillors within the range that is set by the Minister of Local Government.
The Minister categorised each Council into one of three categories, according to size. Baw Baw Shire has been classified as a Category 2.
The Minister for Local Government declared the allowance rates for the Mayor and Councillors be increased from 1 December 2019.
The current allowances are as follows:
Council adopted the Councillor Expenses and Entitlement Policy on 13 July 2016, which applies for all expenses and entitlements for Councillors and Audit Committee members from 13 July 2016.
The Policy requires that Councillor and Audit Committee member expenses are published on the Council website. Details of expenses for this current financial year (2020/2021) are tabled below.
