This $10 million project will see expansion of the existing indoor stadium from two to four courts to better service increased demand of indoor sports in Baw Baw Shire.

The project will feature:

  • Construction of two new indoor (basketball/netball) courts
  • Spectator seating and lounge viewing area
  • New cafe and kitchen
  • Referee change room
  • First aid room
  • Storage facilities
  • Swim club store
  • Public amenities including Changing Places accessible change room
  • Improved pedestrian and parking access links between new and existing facilities.

The project is estimated to be complete mid-2023.

Mar 2022 

Early works contract awarded to Kubale Constructions and on-site works commence. Early works include earthworks, storm water drain installation and sewer diversion, asbestos removal and site clearing works.

Mid 2022     

The main construction tender will be presented to Council for award. Once this has been decided, the site will be handed over to the contractors for development.

Mid 2022 

Major works take place. During this time major construction works will take place seeing the site begin to transform and the vision come to life. Key milestones will be achieved such as slab pouring, steel framing, external cladding, roof completion and sports hall floor installation.

Early 2023      

Internal and external works continue. Following the completion of the main external works, the focus will move inside and see construction of the new cafe and internal fit outs. External works also in progress with the carpark, lighting and pedestrian access paths.

Mid 2023     

The project will be entering the final stages of fit out and completion, including finishing works such as fixtures, painting and external landscaping works. A formal facility opening will be organised.

Valued at $10 million, this project is being delivered by Baw Baw Shire Council in partnership with the Victorian Government.

Early works progress

Early works are progressing well on site in preparation for major construction.

Locally based Kubale Constructions has taken control of the site to complete the preparatory works which include earthworks, storm water drain installation, sewer diversion and asbestos removal. Additionally, electrical conduits have been installed parallel to the existing outdoor pool in preparation for the new facility.

Next steps will see installation of new storm water pipework, sewer diversion works, demolition and removal of redundant infrastructure, as well as site preparation and compaction ahead of the main construction commencement. 

The contract for the main construction of the new stadium is set to be awarded in mid-2022, with construction to commence soon after.
