Building Illumination - West Gippsland Arts Centre

Baw Baw Shire Council is proud to illuminate our iconic West Gippsland Arts Centre forecourt in colour to promote awareness of significant causes, publicise days of recognised significance or public events that may affect our community.

Social awareness through illumination is a low-cost, yet effective way to draw attention to a cause by aligning recognisable colours in line with a parallel marketing campaign.

This opportunity is available free of charge for eligible entities in line with the Building Illumination Guidelines. 

All applications must be completed via the online application form, and all fields must be completed and submitted correctly in order to be considered.

Applications will be reviewed once a month by an Officer from the Arts & Culture team and/or Events team, and a written outcome will be provided to the Applicant within five (5) business days of this monthly review.   

Unsuccessful or incomplete applications will either be notified of the decision, or will be redirected to resubmit a new application for review in the next cycle.

Conditions of Application

The following conditions and considerations apply to all applications:

  • Applications must be received in full and in compliance with the Building Illumination Guidelines
  • Applications are granted on a first-in-first-served basis.
  • No more than four building illuminations will be programmed in any calendar month.
  • Due to lighting limitations, only a single colour can be programmed. 
  • Illuminations must be a solid colour and static - patterns, flashing or alternating colours are not possible.
  • In the interest of maintaining relevance/impact and limit the overuse of individual colours, the repeat use of colours within a three (3) month window will be avoided and may result in an application with the same requested colour to be declined.
  • A maximum of 1 approved request per calendar year, per cause, will be permitted.
  • All applications are one time only. For recurring annual events, submissions are required annually and will not roll over or recur. First in, first served basis still applies and current acceptance does not indicate future acceptance, availability or priority.
  • Any incomplete applications requiring resubmission must conform entirely to the Criteria outlined in the Building Illumination Guidelines at the time of their resubmission, including the minimum notice period. Applications failing to meet the Criteria after resubmission will be declined entirely and will not be eligible to resubmit.
  • All illumination request outcomes are final.
