Victorian Seniors Festival 2020
This year’s Victorian Seniors Festival will be reimagined into a free interactive online festival of fun delivered directly to your home from 28 April to 31 October.
Ordinarily, the month-long festival is held in October with a range of free and low cost local activities and outings for you to enjoy. The festival is funded by the Victorian Government and rolled out by Local Governments across the state.
The major shift from traditional events, outings and activities during the month of October is a direct result of the coronavirus pandemic and the Victorian Government’s redirection of festival funding towards online-only content.
2020 Festival Program
This year, the festival will feature online performances, zoom interviews and story-telling through weekly online broadcasting of recordings made at home by a range of performers, beginning now until the end of October.
Themed ‘in the groove’, the recordings will be hosted by Bec Reid and Tristan Meecham, featuring performers such as:
- Kutcha Edwards
- Gram-O-Phonie Brothers
- Tania Kernaghan
- Jane Clifton
- Paul Williamson
- Robyn Archer
With strict social distancing rules in place, Bec and Tristan will meet and host performers from the comfort of their own homes using technology in ways the festival never knew were possible.
In June, radio broadcasts of plays, serials and music features will also be available.
How to access the festival performances
New performances will be added to the Seniors Festival Website each week.
