West Gippsland Arts Centre opens Expressions of Interest to exhibit

Published on 14 September 2026

Artists who would like their work displayed at the West Gippsland Arts Centre can now apply with Expressions of Interest open.

Each year, West Gippsland Arts Centre offers artists and creatives from all visual disciplines a platform to explore and exhibit their work in a public domain. The opportunity is available to all artists via expressions of interest, with submissions now being accepted for the 2027 program.

Successful artists will have their work showcased in prominent spaces throughout the Arts Centre foyers during 2027. Exhibitions usually run between 4 to 8 weeks and are open to the public free of charge. Artists will be promoted on West Gippsland Arts Centre’s website and social media, offering a fantastic opportunity for new artists and new viewers alike to discover one another.

An optional online information session will take place at 5.30pm on Monday 28 September, which artists and creatives can register for, via this form.

Former exhibitor and local artist Kay Read encouraged submissions and spoke highly of the process, encouraging others to take advantage of the opportunity.

“During my experience of this whole process, I was fully supported by the WGAC team with no question being too big or small to ask,” Ms Read said.

“All art is a personal journey with its story, and emotion. I feel it is just as important to encourage all artists emerging or experienced in exhibiting art, to shine your light out to the community and feel proud of what you have created.

"I took my opportunity with both hands and ran with it, thoroughly enjoying myself. It gave me great pleasure taking friends on guided tours of not only my exhibition but of showing the artworks of the two other exhibiting artists, too. I feel it is so important to support our creatives whatever their creative genre may be.”

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Kate Wilson echoed Ms Read’s sentiment and said it was an opportunity not to be missed.

“Our local artists are the creative heartbeat of our community, and I encourage you to bring your work to the Arts Centre and share your talents with us,” Cr Wilson said.

“When local artists exhibit with us, the entire community benefits and this is a chance to make our wonderful Arts Centre the temporary home for some of your amazing pieces.”
