Concept Design

A concept design has been prepared with the proposed location east of the playground and skate park and west of the linear trail.

The pump track is designed as an integrated yet distinct feature adjacent to the playground and skatepark, with intentional separation for safety. It connects seamlessly with the park’s layout, complementing the playground and skatepark to create a cohesive recreation precinct.

The track features two distinct loops: a beginner loop (green) with a range of 0.4-0.8m and an intermediate loop (blue) with a range of 0.6 to 1.2 meters and optional advanced features, allowing riders of different skill levels to enjoy the track simultaneously.

Beginner riders can navigate the inner junior loop, while intermediate and advanced riders follow the outer loop, ensuring a seamless experience for both groups.

When rider numbers permit, the track can also be ridden as a single continuous loop. Both loops have a predominant direction to eliminate the risk of rider conflict, and there are designated entry and exit points at the primary platform.

Typical track width is 2 metres wide with some areas ranging to 5 metres wide where two lines are parallel to each other.

Project Value

Council has been successful in securing a $480,000 grant from the Victorian Government's Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund to deliver a new pump track facility.

Council will contribute $120,000 towards the project.

Consultation

Council has been working with the Baw Baw Shire Cycling Project Reference Group on other options for improved cycling infrastructure within the Shire.

The group’s top three priorities included a pump track.

Community feedback was sought in February/March 2025 to better understand community sentiments on the potential project and help Council put a case forward to secure funding for the community facility.
