To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 9 November Council meeting.    

Planning and Development

Yarragon Township Plan and Urban Design Framework - Draft for Consultation

Council noted;

  • The content and recommendations of the Draft Yarragon Township Plan and Urban Design Framework, and;
  • Authorise officers to release the Draft Yarragon Township Plan and Urban Design Framework for community consultation for a period of at least eight weeks from 14 November.

Community Infrastructure

General Business Motion Response - State Government Cost Shifting

Council moved an alternate recommendation in response to the General Business Motion tabled at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 24 August 2022;

  • Note the report on the costs incurred by Council in relation to insurance, maintenance and capital works for roads, reserves and facilities on State Government managed or owned land and the options presented in the report for further Council consideration and ;
  • Request a further report, to be tabled no later than 22 February 2023, outlining any implications, financial and otherwise, should Council resolve to cease:
    a) paying insurance premiums on non-Council-owned assets from 1 July 2023, and,
    b) funding expenditure on the maintenance and renewal of Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) assets.

Council Position on Parking for Public Schools

Council noted;

  • That the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) and Department of Education and Training (DET) are exempt from requiring planning permits under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and that they do not provide parking at public schools; and,
  • Adopted a position that the provision of formalised parking for public schools is not the responsibility of Council.

Governance and Information Services

Memorials on Council Land Policy Post Consultation

Council adopted the Memorials on Council Land policy and will write to submitters thanking them for their feedback.

Notices of Motion

Establishing a Delegated Committee for Planning

Motion was lost.
