To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 27 August Council Meeting.
Petitions
Do not stop road maintenance on the Walhalla Road: Walhalla to Beardmores and Aberfeldy to Matlock.
Council received and noted this petition with 3138 signatories.
Council referred the petition to officers to investigate and to provide a report to Council on this matter no later than four Council Meetings' time.
Council will advise the lead petitioner of the Council Meeting date that the report will be presented.
Planning and Development
PLA0068/24 - 33 Charles Street, Warragul
Council moved to;
- Issue a Notice of Decision to Grant a Planning Permit for Planning Permit Application PLA0068/24; and,
- Authorise the Manager Planning / Coordinator Statutory Planning to instruct Council's planners or advocates in review proceedings and mediation under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 provided that any proposed amendments do not alter Council's decision or introduce significant changes to the proposal.
PLA0069/24 - 37 Charles Street, Warragul
Council moved to;

Roadside and Footpath Trading Policy Review - Draft for Community Consultation
Council received and noted the draft Roadside and Footpath Trading Policy.
Council resolved to release the draft Roadside and Footpath Trading Policy for community consultation from 29 August to 28 September 2025.
Community Infrastructure
Petition Response - Keep High Street Aberfeldy Bitumen
Council unanimously endorsed an alternate motion to proceed with a hybrid approach of repairing and resealing sections of the sealed road in Aberfeldy in response to the petition from the community. The estimated cost for this option is $43,000.
Council will advise the lead petitioner of Council's decision.
Draft Open Space Strategy 2025/35
Council noted the draft Open Space Strategy 2025/35 and the consultation plan.
Council endorsed the public exhibition of the draft Open Space Strategy 2025/35 for 30 days, from 1 September to 30 September 2025.
Strategy and Organisational Performance
Community Satisfaction Survey Results 2025
Council noted the results of the Community Satisfaction Survey 2025 and moved to publish the results of the Community Satisfaction Survey 2025 on the
Council website.
Council Strategic Documents - Hearing of Submissions
Council heard the submissions received on the draft Council Plan, Municipal Public, Health and Wellbeing Plan, Long Term Infrastructure Plan, Asset Plan (plus associated documents), and Finance Plan, and thank the community members who made submissions or reviewed the documents.
Governance and Information Services
Property Sale - Erica CFA
Council, pursuant to Section 114 of the Local Government Act 2020, moved to authorise officers to sell via public auction the property known as 14 School Road, Erica, being the land in certificate of title volume 07897 and folio 162 at a price contained within a certified valuation dated within 6 months of the sale.
Council authorised the Chief Executive Officer to sign the required documents to finalise the sale.
Council noted that no submissions were received during the 28-day advertising period (3 July 2025 to 31 July 2025).
Governance Report August 2025
Council noted the following;
- August 2025 Governance Report;
- Update on the Municipal Association of Victoria State Council Meeting Resolutions;
- Extension of Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member, Carmen Ridley, until 22 August 2028;
- The 7 July 2025 Audit and Risk Committee Meeting Minutes and Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes;
- Councillor expenses for the 2024-25 Financial Year; and,
- Assembly of Councillor records for 3 July 2025 to 20 August 2025.
Baw Baw Shire Council's Council Meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
In June 2025, Council revised the Council Meeting schedule for the remainder of the year. Council Meeting dates can be viewed here.
All Council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the Council website for viewing.
The agenda for the next meeting will be available online on the Friday prior to the meeting.
