Council’s key environmental sustainability goals and priorities include having different waste streams, implementing low waste practices, enabling circular economy initiatives and reducing waste at events.
Events held on Council land or supported by Council are required to have and implement an effective waste management plan, which address those priorities.
Event organisers can hire event bins through Council. The cost of hire includes delivery and collection of event bins.
Council has allocated an annual budget to support eligible event organisers, who demonstrate active implementation of sustainable low waste practices, through the provision of subsidised event bins.
Eligibility criteria are set out in the Subsidised Community Events Bin Guidelines(PDF, 177KB).
