Notice is hereby given that at its meeting held on 22 July 2026, Baw Baw Shire Council resolved to make the following Orders under the Domestic Animals Act 1994:
A. MANDATORY CAT DESEXING
1. Revocation
All previous Orders made by Council under section 10A(1) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 are revoked.
2. Commencement
This Order commences on 1 September 2026.
3. Cats to be desexed
Pursuant to section 10A(1) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 all cats being registered for the first time (new registrations) with Baw Baw Shire Council must be desexed, unless the cat is exempt from desexing under section 10B of the Domestic Animals Act 1994.
4. Meaning of words
In this Order Owner has the same meaning as in the Domestic Animals Act 1994.
B. CAT CURFEW
1. Revocation
All previous Orders made by Council under section 25(2) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 are revoked.
2. Commencement
This Order commences on 1 September 2026.
3. Cats to be securely confined
Pursuant to section 25(2) of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 all cats within the municipal district of Baw Baw Shire Council must be securely confined to their Owner’s premises at all times.
4. Meaning of words
In this Order Owner has the same meaning as in the Domestic Animals Act 1994.
