Statement from the Mayor

At a Confidential Council Meeting on 25 March 2026, Councillors considered the future management of aquatic and leisure facilities across Baw Baw Shire.

Following careful consideration, Council has resolved not to award a new contract at this time in order to further assess future service delivery options.

Council is now in discussions with the current contractor, YMCA Victoria regarding the continuation of current operations for a further 12-month period. This approach will ensure continuity of service while Council undertakes the necessary work to prepare for a future tender process.

Importantly, all facilities will continue to operate as normal, with no disruption to services, programs or access for the community.

Council and YMCA Victoria remain committed to working collaboratively and constructively throughout this period, maintaining a strong focus on service quality, stability and positive outcomes for the community.
