Have your say on Council's draft Events Strategy

Published on 27 August 2026

Community members, event organisers and local businesses are invited to have their say on Baw Baw Shire's first draft Events Strategy.

The draft Events Strategy will be open for public feedback on Council’s online engagement platform Baw Baw Connect from Thursday 27 August to 16 September 2026.

This draft strategy guides Council’s strategic decision-making and outlines its vision and objectives to encourage, support, and facilitate community and destination events, as well as civic and major events.

The draft strategy has been developed to provide a clear and consistent framework for the planning, approval and delivery of events across the Shire.

It aims to support vibrant community events while ensuring public safety, accessibility, environmental sustainability and responsible use of Council-managed spaces.

The Strategy will support the delivery of Council’s key objectives to ready the Shire for the future and support a vibrant quality of life as our community grows.

Following the consultation period, Council will consider all feedback before finalising the Events Strategy.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson is encouraging the community to review the draft strategy and have their say.

“We know how important events are for our beautiful Baw Baw community. They play an important role in bringing people together and supporting local businesses," Cr Wilson said.

"We want to hear from our residents, community groups and event organisers to ensure the policy reflects the needs and expectations of our community. Every submission will help shape the final strategy."

Community members can view the draft policy and provide feedback by visiting Council’s engagement platform Baw Baw Connect
