To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 22 April Council Meeting.
Economic Development, Grants and Advocacy
12.1. Draft Public Art Policy & Civic Art Collection Policy
Council endorsed the draft Civic Art Collection Policy and draft Public Art Policy to progress to community feedback through public exhibition from 23 April 2026 until 13 May 2026.
Strategy and Organisational Performance
13.1 Draft Budget, Rating and Revenue Plan, Fees and Charges Schedule, Financial Plan and Long-Term Infrastructure Program
Council endorsed the following documents to be placed on public exhibition;
- Draft Annual Budget 2026/27 (including Fees and Charges schedule);
- Draft Financial Plan 2026/27 - 2035/36;
- Draft Revised Revenue and Rating Plan 2025/26 - 2029/30; and
- Draft Long-Term Infrastructure Plan 2026/27 - 2035/36.
Council authorised the Chief Executive Officer to give public notice of the preparation of the Draft Annual Budget 2026/27, Draft Financial Plan 2026/27 - 2035/36, Draft Revised Revenue and updated Rating Plan 2025/26 - 2029/30, and Draft Long-Term Infrastructure Plan 2026/27 - 2035/36; and to make available copies of the documents for public consultation.
Council, in accordance with Council’s Community Engagement Policy invite submissions of feedback on the contents of the draft documents from Thursday, 23 April until 5pm, Thursday, 14 May 2026.
Council will consider the adoption of the annual Budget 2026/27, Financial Plan 2026/27 - 2035/36, Revised Revenue and Rating Plan 2025/26 - 2029/30, and Long Term Infrastructure Plan 2026/27 - 2035/36 at the Council Meeting to be held on Wednesday, 24 June, 2026 at the Fountain Room, West Gippsland Arts Centre, Warragul.
13.2 Municipal Early Years Plan 2024-2027 Progress Report
Council endorsed thereport on the implementation of Council's Municipal Early Years Plan 2024-2027.
Governance and Information Services
15.1 Governance Report April 2026
Council noted the following;
- April 2026 Governance Report;
- Councillor Expenses for Quarter 3 of the 2025/26 Financial Year;
- A summary of submitted Personal Interest Returns for March 2026 has been published on Council's website in accordance with Section 135 of the Local Government Act 2020;
- Audit and Risk Committee meeting minutes for 23 March 2026;
- Responses to clarifying questions on notice submitted at the 25 March 2026 Council Meeting;
- MAV Delegate Report for March 2026; and
- Assembly of Councillor records for 19 March to 15 April 2026.
General Business
Bereavement Motion
Cr Sheehan moved a bereavement motion for the late Franz Reiter, who has recently passed away.
Council extends its sincere condolences to the family of Franz Reiter on his recent passing and will write a letter of condolence on behalf of Council to his family.
Baw Baw Shire Council's Council Meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
All Council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the Council website for viewing.
The agenda for the next meeting will be available online on the Friday prior to the meeting.
