Round One of Baw Baw Shire Council’s Community Projects are open and eligible community groups are encouraged to apply!

Baw Baw Shire’s Community Grants Program provides not-for-profit community groups and organisations with funding to deliver much-needed projects, programs, events, minor capital works, and with the opportunity to purchase equipment.

The Community Grants Program includes two funding streams - Community Projects and Minor Capital Works.

The current Community Projects stream is open for applications until midday Friday 26 July.

Earlier this year, Council announced that 28 local community groups shared in more than $105,000 in funding as part of round two of Baw Baw Shire’s Community Grants Program.

Examples of some of the groups and projects that were funded include:

  • Community Church Warragul

$4,485.35 to go towards their project titled “Kings Cafe Messy Play Project” for play equipment – three tuff tray stands, mats and equipment, drawing board, water play trays, paint brushes, crayons, water pots, easel and drying rack and tarps for floor mats.

  • Riding For the Disabled Association of Victoria

$4,271.01 to go towards their project titled “Safety Riding Equipment” for the purchase of safety equipment for both horse and rider at their Warragul facility.

  • Drouin Badminton Club Incorporated

$4,488 to go towards their project titled “Safety Padding for Wall and Pillars” for fixed wall padding to the north wall of the Badminton Stadium.

  • Eastern Park Community Garden

$5,000 to go towards their project titled “Rental Beds Renovation Program” for re-laying of new gravel and compaction, construction of new garden beds and to top up all beds with new compost.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe encouraged community groups to submit an application and make the most of this opportunity to receive some extra financial support through Council.

“We’re very proud of our local community groups and the work they undertake to make our community a better place to live, and as a Council we want to do anything we can to help them succeed,” Cr McCabe said.

“Over the last 12 months, Council has provided $298,768 in financial assistance to local groups through our Community Grants, and we’re looking to offer more in the current round.”

“Enquire today and see if you’re eligible for this extra assistance and speak to other local community groups who have been successful in the past, to find out the best way to make your application shine.”
