Calling all local green thumbs to join the “Pedal and Plant” tree planting event marked for National Tree Day on Sunday 27 July.
Established in 1996, Planet Ark's National Tree Day has grown into Australia's largest community tree planting and nature care event. Each year, around 300,000 people volunteer their time to engage in environmental activities that educate Australians about the world around them.
This year’s National Tree Day planting event in Baw Baw Shire will take place along the Thomas Maddock Reserve which runs adjacent to the Two Towns Trail, specifically at the corner of Hopetoun Road and Manikato Drive in Drouin. Given the proximity to the Two Towns Trail, attendees are encouraged to cycle, scoot or walk to the event in the name of sustainability.
All ages and abilities event - everyone is welcome and the event will have wheelchair access.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along a water bottle, gloves, hat, raincoat and sturdy footwear.
All plants and planting tools will be supplied.
A free community barbecue with refreshments will be provided for attendees.
A portable toilet will be provided onsite for the event.
Registrations for the event are encouraged but not essential.
