Through its Public Art Fund, Council has $20,000 available to contribute to the commissioning of public art mural project, in any township across Baw Baw. We're opening this expression of interest opportunity so passionate residents and community groups are able submit their proposed mural project for funding.

How much funding is available?

A total of $20,000 of funding is available.

Who can apply for the grant?

Community groups that are incorporated, or not-for-profit, can apply for the grant. Individuals can apply for the grant on behalf of a community group.

What type of art work will be accepted?

The grant funding is open to mural projects only.

Can the mural be located anywhere?

The mural must be located within Baw Baw Shire. It is preferred, but not essential, that the mural be located on publicly accessible Council owned land. If your mural is located on private land (e.g the side of a building) then written permission from the property owner must be included in your submission.

Who decides which submission is successful?

Council's Arts and Culture Advisory Committee will vote on the submissions and decide which project will be funded.

How long do we have to complete the project?

The successful mural must be completed by 30 June 2022.

Expression of Interest and Submission Requirements

Community groups wishing to make a submission for the Public Art Fund must complete the Expression of Interest and include the below information:

  • A concept sketch of the artwork.
  • The proposed location.
  • The proposed artist to complete the work.
  • The vision, and how the mural ties into the the location.
  • A project budget.
  • Estimated timelines.
