School Holiday Activities - Summer 2020/21

During the summer school holidays there are lots of great youth activities taking place across Baw Baw Shire: arts, crafts, yoga and fitness classes, streetgames, drumming sessions and a fun packed return to community sport with an afternoon of activities at the Burke Street Park in Warragul.

Monday 18 January

Lino-Cut Workshop

This art workshop will involve participants drawing a design, carving into soft lino and then printing their small block onto calico fabric and paper to take home.

No experience required, suitable for ages 12 and above.

Tuesday 19 January

Beginners Yoga

Beginners Yoga is perfect for anyone new to yoga, or wanting a refresher in the basics.You will be guided through the fundamental postures, sun salutation sequences, pranayama (yogic breathing techniques) and meditation.

A fun, relaxing and refreshing class for all ages and levels.

Cycle RPM

Cycle at the Y is a group indoor cycling workout where you control the intensity. It's fun and low impact.

Return to Sport Community Day

A range of family-friendly activities featuring the teams from Spartan Kids, Melbourne Victory, PGA golf, Melbourne Boomers and GippSport Streetgames.

  • Where: Burke Street Park, Warragul

Baw Baw Streetgames

Streetgames are a series of free, supervised activities and games for teenagers and young adults. Our games are generally pretty short and sweet (2-15 minutes each depending on game type), we usually have one main game happening, but we also have heaps of smaller side games.

Session One

  • Where: Thorpdale Recreation Reserve
  • When: 1:30-2:30pm

Session Two

  • Where: James Balfour Park, Trafalgar
  • When: 3:15-4:15pm

Session Three

  • Where: Yarragon Skate Park
  • When: 5:00-6:00pm

Djembe Drumming Workshop

Connect through the rhythmic beats on the Djembe drum in a facilitated drumming circle. Learn the basic sounds, have some fun and beat that drum!

  • Where: The Goods Shed (located in the Warragul Train Station car park)

Tai Chi

This unique martial art is for all ages and levels. Tai Chi promotes strength, coordination, posture, concentration, and energy levels.

Yin Yoga & Meditation

This class will incorporate Yin Yoga poses with a focus on developing your meditation practice.
Meditation is a state of deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent. In these classes you will learn various techniques to develop concentration, calmness, and emotional wellbeing.

We will use Yin Yoga poses to help focus the mind, moving the body into deep stretches, held for 3-5 minutes. Suitable for all ages and levels.
