Community Sponsorship

 

The Community Sponsorship program aims to encourage and assist individuals and community groups that make positive contributions within Baw Baw or are ambassadors for our region. 

Community Sponsorship is part of Council’s Community Funding Assistance Program and Council’s commitment to community development, building responsible leadership and creating vibrant communities.

Round One

Community Ambassadors

  • Brett Osler - representing Baw Baw familial connections to ANZACs at the 2023 AFL Europe Cup 2023
  • Damien Smith - representing Baw Baw at the World Iron Man Championships in Hawaii
  • Warragul Little Athletics - representing Baw Baw at the Gippsland Regional Relays
  • Warragul Amateur Swimming Club - state and performance level swimmers competing at National Swimming Competition in Darwin.

Available sponsorship and eligibility

All applications must primarily focus on community and social outcomes.  

Baw Baw Ambassador: Individuals who are residents of Baw Baw Shire or Groups/Teams that are based in Baw Baw Shire can apply. 

Available Funding: 

  • up to $500 individual
  • up to $1500 group/team

Community Events: Not-for-profit groups/businesses, including youth events and programs, one off events, new and existing events can apply. 

Available Funding: 

  • up to $5,000 

To be considered for funding, applications must meet these eligibility criteria: 

  • Applicant organisation is not for profit
  • Applicant organisation has a legal status
  • Project will be hosted within Baw Baw Shire's municipal boundaries

These applicants are not eligible: 

  • Government and education bodies
  • Private businesses
  • Applicants who have already received a sponsorship in the same financial year  

What Will Not Be Funded:  

  • Catering and alcohol
  • Events with a sole religious or political purpose
  • Retrospective events
  • Events occurring more than 12 months after the date of request
  • Applicants who have an outstanding debt to Baw Baw Shire Council and/or overdue acquittals relating to the Community Funding Assistance Program

In the 2022/23 Community Sponsorship Program, there will be two rounds of grants available.

Are you an ambassador for our region? Have you been selected to compete in or attend an event representing our region? 

Do you have an event to attend or an event to organise that’s coming up and want some financial assistance? Community Sponsorship may be able to assist you. 

Baw Baw Shire Council  is here to help you with your Community Sponsorship Application for Baw Baw Ambassadors or Community Events.  

The process is easy, simply give is a call on 1300 229 229 during office hours or email grants@bawbawshire.vic.gov.au and we will make some time with you in person or over the phone, to explore how Community Sponsorship may be able to assist you and your event 

Before we connect please consider these things about your event:

Can you provide clear details about the event/project?  
How will you know if the  project achievable?   
What ways will you be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver the project?   
How will Community Sponsorship funds support your event? What will funds be used for?   
How will you  promote and market about your event?   
How will you determine if your event has been successful?   
What social and community outcomes is your project expected to achieve?   
Does your project relate to a current Baw Baw Shire Council plan or strategy?   
Have you considered community connectedness and inclusion issues in relation to the needs of the Baw Baw community and other user groups?    
What other relevant support material can you provide with your application e.g., budget, quotations, timeline etc?
