Community Development Grants

Baw Baw Shire Council supports community and volunteer groups through an annual Community Development Grants program.

Community Development Grants are offered to non-profit organisations, groups and associations to assist with projects, programs, equipment or events that contribute to the community.

We seek applications that:

  • Enable community led projects and activities that support the community’s priorities and vision (as set out in the Council Plan and informed by Baw Baw 2050 and other strategic documents recognised by Council)
  • Will strengthen communities and opportunities for enhanced participation in public life and community groups
  • Provide benefits to the local and/or Baw Baw community.
  • Contribute to the social, environmental and economic development of our community.

Grant categories

Application can be made across three categories:

Environment Grant

Provides up to $5,000 for activities that will enhance a community group’s capacity to run or promote programs with a benefit to the environment.

Applicants can propose projects to support natural and/or capacity building from an environmental group. Projects occurring on private property are ineligible.

Equipment Grant

This grant category will provide a maximum grant of up to $5,000 and provides funding necessary for the successful operation or delivery of services for communities.

Minor Capital Works

The Minor Capital Works category provides for minor repairs, renovations and associated infrastructure for buildings, clubrooms, sporting and other community facilities.

The application process involves two stages:
