During the 2022-23 financial year, Council awarded over $219,000 in community grants and sponsorship to 74 community groups and individual ambassadors representing Baw Baw.
Our Community Grants program supports a range of individuals, non-profit organisations and associations to develop, grow, and support our community in achieving great things.
We are improving our program in ways that make it easier for applicants to access the program, improve efficiencies and transparency while testing how well the current program is servicing the needs of the Baw Baw community.
To achieve this, we have engaged Projectura to conduct a review of the Community Grants program in partnership with Council. The review includes the Community Development Grants, Community Sponsorship and Education Sponsorship programs.
The review began in November 2022 and will conclude in May 2023, and included various consultation opportunities for past, present and prospective applicants to provide their feedback.
This feedback has informed the development and implementation of a new Community Grants Policy and Guidelines before the launch of a new Community Grants Program in July 2023.

Consultation Updates
As part of the review, and to form the Draft Community Grants Policy and Guidelines, we have interviewed previous applicants, both successful and unsuccessful, as well as Council Officers and Councillors who have been involved in each step of the program delivery process to understand what currently works and what doesn’t.
Their thoughts and ideas on where improvements could be made have been considered as part of the development of the Draft Policy and the new Guidelines, which has been designed to meet our strategic priorities and the community's needs.
