Council undertook studies to better understand how our community feels about pedestrian and cyclist safety in the Drouin and Warragul CBDs.

As part of the project, we will use the responses received to help us identify projects that will improve roadside safety and decrease the number of serious crashes and incidents involving pedestrians, cyclists and motor vehicles.

Council has appointed HDS Australia to develop the project after a successfully obtaining a grant from the Transport Accident Commission.

This community consultation opportunity closed at 5pm Sunday 1 May 2022.

What's involved in the consultation process?

Phase 1 - Community consultation (now closed)

HDS Australia will be conducted in person consultation with various walking and cycling groups within Drouin and Warragul to gain knowledge and insight into the community's thoughts about pedestrian and cycling safety. We asked the wider community to share their thoughts.

Phase 2 - Reporting

Following the consultation phase of the project, HDS Australia will consolidate responses from the community, cross reference the feedback with site inspections and review crash and incident data to prepare a report that will outline recommended actions and associated costs to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety in the target areas.

Phase 3 - Presentation to Council

After Council Officers receive and review the project report from HDS Australia, the report and the projects identified within it will be presented to Council for consideration.

The areas considered in for feedback as part of this project are the Drouin and Warragul CBDs. You can view these study areas on the maps below.
