Baw Baw’s Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan(PDF, 2MB) guides Council’s statutory responsibility for improving the health and wellbeing of the community. The Plan describes how Council will fulfill its obligations of service provision, good governance, advocacy, regulation, and capacity building.

The Plan focuses on four priority areas;

  • Active Living,

  • Healthy Eating,

  • Mental Wellbeing,

  • Gender Equity and Prevention of Family Violence.

Each priority area has a goal and a set of strategies identified to help Baw Baw Shire's Health Promotion funded organisations, community organisations and Council deliver initiatives to achieve the health or wellbeing goal.

Background

This year, Council facilitated one of the most significant and thorough community consultation processes in our history. It was in service to the creation of a new Community Vision for Baw Baw Shire.

This vision articulates what our community collectively values and sees as the guiding priorities for our future. The vision and it's fundamental pillars, sustainable, healthy and thriving, will serve as the foundation of all Council activities and services.

These pillars were incorporated into the development of the draft Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, its priorities, goals and the strategies for achieving them, to help make sure the future of Baw Baw is a one of healthy and well people living in safe, connected and healthy environments.

To make sure this plan is right for everyone, we encourage you to view the draft Plan and tell us your feedback.
