Baw Baw Shire is experiencing significant residential and commercial growth, and with that comes more vehicles and pedestrians using the roads every day. To improve the safety of all road users, Council undertook a review of and updated its Road Safety Strategy.
The goal of the strategy is to achieve zero annual deaths on Baw Baw Shire roads by 2050. This strategy aims to achieve this by understanding how and where incidents are occurring on our roads and improving safety through the implementation of a corresponding action plan.
Council has used data collected from local crashes, looked at road safety practices from around the world and worked with road safety experts to develop the following strategic themes that will drive its road safety program over the next five years:
Before the Draft Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan were adopted, community members were invited to review the draft documents and provide any feedback, thoughts or ideas on how they could be improved.
Community consultation closed at 5pm Friday, 12 May 2023 and the new Road Safety Strategy was adopted by Council on Wednesday 28 June 2023. Click here to read more and use the link below to download the Strategy.
