The West Gippsland Arts Centre (WGAC) has been the regional centre for arts in the region since opening in July 1982. Located in the heart of Warragul, the WGAC has been host to major performing arts, school performances, cultural and community events and host to numerous meetings, conferences and festivals.
The WGAC recently underwent a $14.1m upgrade jointly funded by all three levels of Government. The upgrade works saw the capacity of the centre increased to 750, a new expanded café, upgraded meeting and function space and the establishment of a new entrance forecourt.
The upgrades have provided the region with a state of the art venue, with the increased audience capacity allowing the WGAC to attract larger acts to perform. While the upgrades have completed the ‘performance’ side of the centre, there are still several ‘back of house’ projects required to complete the upgrade project.
