Drouin Pool to Re-Open With Conditions

Released: 09/02/2012

Following a meeting between Victoria Police, the YMCA and Baw Baw Shire Council, a decision was reached to reopen the Drouin Pool.

The pool will reopen on days forecast to be 25° and above, which the Bureau of Meteorology has predicted will be Wednesday 15 February. Council has re-introduced admission fees to cover the cost of employing security personnel for the protection of staff and patrons.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Diane Blackwood said, “While the Drouin Pool is a great place for families and individuals to spend quality time cooling down over summer, it is paramount that we ensure their safety.”

“Meanwhile the Police are taking recent incidents of anti-social behaviour very seriously. Police are currently investigating the matter that has the potential for charges to be laid in the future.”

“The Council will provide Police with its CCTV footage of the incident to assist them as they take statements from staff and witnesses. Future offenders of undesirable behaviour will not be tolerated and will be issued with permanent bans.”

The re-introduced admission fees will be $3.80 for adults, $2.80 for students and $10.55 for a family.
