Councillor Allowances and Expenses
Councillor Allowances
Council is required to set an allowance for its Councillors within the range that is set by the Minister of Local Government.
The Minister categoried each Council into one of three categoriees, according to size. Baw Baw Shire is a Category 2 Council.
The Minister for Local Government declared the allowance rates for the Mayor and Councillors are increased from 27 October 2012.
The current allowances are as follows:
Mayoral Allowance $69,325 Councillor Allowance $22,405
Councillor Expenses
Council adopted its Councillor Expenses and Entitlement Policy on 8 July 2009 after seeking public submissions. The policy was amended on 1 July 2010 to include provisions for the Audit Committee independent members.
