Council Plan 2011-2015

The Council Plan 2011-2015 has been developed to respond to the key future directions that are outlined in BawBaw 2050.

Our key objectives are:

Managing Growth

Baw Baw Shire will plan for growth and the provision of necessary services and infrastructure. We will develop clear planning guidelines and well defined urban boundaries which consider the need for agricultural productivity and enhancement of natural assets in line with the BawBaw 2050 Vision.

Lifelong Learning, Education and Skills Development and Knowledge

Baw Baw Shire will advocate for community members to have access to a range of local opportunities for education, learning, skills development at all levels, and learnings respond to the changing needs of local employers.

Vibrant Community Living

As part of our commitment to BawBaw 2050 Vision, Baw Baw Shire will foster opportunities for social interaction in our community to enable greater participation in community life.

Valuing Our Environment

Baw Baw Shire will plan to protect the productivity of, and the landscapes in our natural environment, from the uncertain consequences of climate change, by advocating and leading in careful waste management, including recycling and zero waste targets, encouraging clean, alternative renewable energy sources for houses, industry and commercial uses.

Building Responsible Leadership

Baw Baw Shire will facilitate and engage in a culture of conversation and discussion to encourage community wide participation in the achievement of the community's vision and enhance collaboration between leaders and community in decision making.

Building Prosperity

It is the vibrancy of our community, the arts and cultural scence, the beauty of our natural and built environments, the diverse produce from our farms, industries and innovation that attracts not only residents but visitors to the area and provides our Baw Baw brand. Opportunities exist to expand both product and market awareness to build prosperity for our community.

Organisational Excellence

Baw Baw Shire will build an organisational culture that will lead the community in delivering the community's vision through sound business, financial and asset management.
