Council rates are a property-based tax. The Capital Improvement Value of the property is multiplied by the rate in the dollar set by the Council.
The Farm Rate concession is available to owners of rateable land that meet Council’s definition of farm land. Other concessions are available for some pensioners and veterans.
Rates need to be paid in four instalments throughout the year.
Property valuation is used to calculate how much you pay in Council rates.
