Day Time Service
Monday to Friday 9.00am - 6.00pm Found dog pick ups, lost pets, livestock on road and dog attacks.
Monday to Friday 6.00pm - 8.30am Livestock on road and dog attacks.
Saturday 9.00am - 6.00pm Found dog pick ups, lost pets, livestock on road and dog attacks.
Saturday to Monday 6.00pm - 8.30am Livestock on road and dog attacks.

Service descriptions

  • Found dogs: Will be picked up from any location within the shire before 6.00pm. If a call is received after hours, a message is left for the officer to attend to it the next day (excluding Sundays).
  • Lost pets: Council officers check the shire lost animal register to check if pets reported missing have been impounded. If a call is received after hours, a message is left for the officer to attend to it the next day (excluding Sundays).
  • Livestock on roads: Can be reported and will be actioned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Dog attacks: Can be reported and will be actioned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ranger Patrol

  • Animals: Council officers undertake door-knocks throughout the shire to check dog and cat registrations, as well as permit checks. Officers will be in uniform and will be carrying Council identification.
  • Ranger Checks: Rangers also check the number of animals housed on properties.
  • Other Local Laws Checks: Council officers also conduct patrols/inspections for unsightly premises, rubbish dumping, burning off, asset protection, building sites, recreational vehicles, overhanging branches, domestic animals business checks, dog pick ups, trespassing livestock, camping and caravans in a public place, and school crossing duties when required.
  • Wandering Livestock: Council officers often deal with wandering livestock, and attempt to secure the animal/s in a nearby property. . Owners of wandering livestock may be issued with fines and will incur impoundment costs. Any livestock not claimed or returned to the owner may be sold at public auction.
