Baw Baw Shire Council has initiated an ambitious plan to develop a municipal vision for the next fifty years by creating a Growth Management Strategy to be known as 'Shaping the Future'. The project has been funded for 4 years commencing 2009-2010 budget.

 | manage the rapid growth the Shire is experiencing |  | update the decade-old planning scheme |  | provide clarity around the Community's vision for its towns and rural landscape |  | based on the Community vision, create an image of a dynamic, sustainable future where residents, visitors and investors choose this Shire as their preferred place to live, work, invest and play |

| How will this happen? |
 | Through a system of engagement with our Community, Councillors and Staff, create and implement a vision to deliver a revised, simpler Municipal Strategic Statement and Local Policy Provisions. |  | Through new, strategic policies respond to contemporary issues and priorities as identified through Community engagement. |

| What will Council do? | | Underpinning this strategic approach, Council will deliver a renewed set of planning tools such as: | |
 | structure plans for major towns |  | strategies providing direction on sustainability issues, both urban and agricultural |  | subdivision guidelines detailing new, clearer practices for sustainable development which will be written and incorporated into the planning scheme to allow good develoopment to continue and grow in support of the vision. |
