What is the purpose of 'Shaping the Future'?

The purpose of 'Shaping the Future' is to create a growth management strategy that will:

manage the rapid growth the Shire is experiencing
 update the decade-old planning scheme
provide clarity around the Community's vision for its towns and rural landscape
based on the Community vision, create an image of a dynamic, sustainable future where residents, visitors and investors choose this Shire as their preferred place to live, work, invest and play

How will this happen?
Through a system of engagement with our Community, Councillors and Staff, create and implement a vision to deliver a revised, simpler Municipal Strategic Statement and Local Policy Provisions.
Through new, strategic policies respond to contemporary issues and priorities as identified through Community engagement.

What will Council do?

Underpinning this strategic approach, Council will deliver a renewed set of planning tools such as:

 structure plans for major towns
strategies providing direction on sustainability issues, both urban and agricultural
subdivision guidelines detailing new, clearer practices for sustainable development which will be written and incorporated into the planning scheme to allow good develoopment to continue and grow in support of the vision.
