Strategic Pathway Network

Paths and trails play a significant role within Baw Baw Shire, providing a means of access to community facilities, services, public transport and open space.

To enable Council to plan where paths and trails should be built, we are proposing to adopt a more proactive and strategic approach to the construction of pathways within the Shire.

Building upon the guidelines set out by State Government for the development of principal pedestrian networks within Victoria, we have identified key primary and secondary pathways within the majority of townships.

Council will prioritise the pathways that are part of these key networks for construction in future programs, ensuring that the community is provided with infrastructure that provides the highest level of connectivity benefit for an individual local community

Council is inviting the community to review the maps of the proposed strategic pathway network(PDF, 10MB) and provide feedback. This consultation opportunity is open until Friday 22 February 2019.

The development of a Paths and Trails Strategy is an initiative for the 2018-2019 financial year within the Council Plan 2017-2021. It is expected that the strategy will be completed by June 2019.

The development of a paths and trails strategy is required to effectively decide how Council will invest in the construction of paths and trails within the Shire
