Australia Day Awards 2019

This years Australia Day Awards ceremony will be held at 6.00pm on Tuesday 22 January 2019 at the newly redeveloped West Gippsland Arts Centre.

Theses awards honour local people and groups who have made a significant contribution to the Baw Baw community. Hear from guest speakers including our Australia Day Ambassador Paul Wheelton AM KSJ.

Award categories

Citizen of the Year

  • A person who had made a noteworthy contribution during the previous year, and/or given outstanding service to the community over a number of years.

Young Citizen of the Year

  • A person aged under 25 years who has given outstanding service to the community.

Australia Day Medallion

  • A person who has outstanding achievements in any of the nomination categories.

Community Event of the Year

  • An organisation/group who performed a service to the community, raising funds for a charity, event or project. 

Community Contribution Awards

An individual, organisation or group that has successfully conducted a project/event/activity or has brought credit/recognition to the community in one of the sub-categories:

  • Sporting Achievement Award
  • Environmental Achievement Award
  • Cultural Achievement Award
