Recreation Reserves and Public Halls
Managing Recreation Reserves and Public Halls
Section 86 Committees
Committees, made up of dedicated community members, manage recreation facilities and public halls on behalf of Baw Baw Shire Council. These groups are called Section 86 Committees, which are formal entities under the Victoria Local Government Act 1989.
There are 22 of these committees in Baw Baw Shire who are supported by volunteers which keep community facilities running. The committee meeting schedule lists when each of these committees convene during the year.
Baw Baw Shire Council has a Good Practice Guide which contains all the information and forms you need to manage community facilities.
For more information about Section 86 Committees and managing recreation reserves, contact Council on (03) 5624 2411 or email bawbawshire@bawbawshire.vic.gov.au.
Casual Hire of Recreation Reserves
You can hire facilities at two of the Council's recreation reserves - Burke Street Park and Eastern Park in Warragul.
To hire either of these facilities, complete the Casual Hire Application Form and return it to Baw Baw Shire Council.
To hire other facilities, such as a community hall, visit the 'Halls, Parks and Facilities' section on the homepage for contact details of the clubs managing these facilities.
