Impounded Vehicles

Refer to this page for information regarding vehicles that have been impounded or vehicles that are available for disposal.

Please note, if there are no vehicles listed on this page, there are no vehicles currently impounded for unknown owners to claim in Baw Baw Shire.

(1)   Council may:

(a)     move or impound any unregistered vehicle or vehicle considered by it to be abandoned (and anything on or attached to the vehicle.)

(b)   Keep the vehicle in the place to which has been moved or any other place.

(c)    Return the vehicle to its owner on payment of a fee: and or

(d)   Sell, destroy, or give away the vehicle and anything in, on or attached to the vehicle, if the owner has not paid the associated fees within a time deemed reasonable by the Shire.

(2)   Council, and anyone who obtains the vehicle from the Council under subclause (1)(d), is not liable to the owner of the vehicle or any other person in respect of any action taken under the subclause.

(3)   The fee set for the purposes of subclause (1)(c) must not exceed an amount that reasonably represents the cost to the Council of impounding, moving, keeping and releasing the vehicle (including any relevant overhead and other indirect costs).

Expressions of Interest Impounded Vehicle 2157

A vehicle has been impounded for being in the following state Schedule 11.3 of Local Government Act 1989 for being either unregistered and/or abandoned. As the vehicle has not been claimed within the required time under the act the vehicle is now being sold to an interested party.

The successful new owner is not liable to any previous owner or any other person regarding the prior use of the vehicle under the same Act.   The vehicle details are reference number: 2157 make: Ford type: sedan previous registration: OVO161 VIN: 6FPAAAJGSWWS32506.

Expressions should be posted to Community Compliance Impounded Vehicles, Baw Baw Shire Council, PO Box 304, Warragul 3820 with the reference number printed clearly. Expressions will close at 5.00pm on Tuesday 14 May 2013. The vehicle may be viewed by phoning Kelly Beveridge on 5624 2587 and quoting the reference number.
