Warragul is one step closer to construction of a new Early Learning Centre and 132 new kinder places with designs for the facility officially unveiled onsite today.

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Joe Gauci was joined by Member for Eastern Victorian Harriet Shing MP and an excited Student Council to unveil designs for the centre which will be co-located at Warragul Primary School.

Deputy Mayor Cr Danny Goss, Cr Mikaela Power, Cr Jessica O’Donnell, Cr Tricia Jones and CEO Alison Leighton were there to join in the excitement alongside Warragul Primary School Principal Scott Clode, students, teachers and members of the board.

The Mayor was thrilled to share the designs for the $3.2 million multipurpose facility that will cater for present demand and future growth.

“The site may just look like open space right now, but very soon it will become a hive of activity as construction begins”, said the Mayor.

“The centre will provide much needed services including three and four-year old kinder, playgroups, Maternal and Child Health and allied health support services to support our growing community.

“The co-location of this facility will make life easier for children and parents alike. Children with their transition into primary school, and parents who will be able to drop their kindergarten and school children off in the same place.

“This project is a true partnership between our community and all three levels of government and we thank Ms Shing and the Victorian Government for their generous $650,000 contribution to the project.”

The designs have been prepared by CohenLeigh Architects who have experience with similar projects including the design of Council’s Civic Centre in Drouin.

Construction of the project is due to commence early next year and is expected to finish in the second half of next year.
