Community Development Grants Closing Soon

Local community groups and not-for-profit organisations have only one week left to get their applications in for the 2017 Community Development Grant program.
Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Councillor Joe Gauci recapped on the great opportunity these grants present for the community and urged interested groups to apply fast.
“The Community Development Grants are the perfect chance for local groups or not-for-profit organisations to get the funding they need for community focused projects, programs, events or even equipment,” said the Mayor
“With the 2017 program closing at 3.00pm on Friday 18 August, interested community groups need to finalise their applications now to ensure they don’t miss out.”
Interested groups can make applications across four categories:
- Environment: A maximum grant of $2,000 will be available for activities that directly benefit the environment.
- Youth, Community Events and Programs: A maximum grant of up to $3,000 will be available to support events such as festivals and youth, community, sporting and cultural programs. Events and programs that cater for youth aged 12 to 25 are highly encouraged.
- Minor Capital Works: A maximum grant of $10,000 will be will be available to support minor repairs and renovations, including disabled access to buildings, sporting and other community facilities and playgrounds. This funding requires a community contribution to match Council’s grant.
- Minor Equipment Purchases: A new category with a maximum grant of up to $5,000 will be available for community groups to purchase key equipment to help facilitate community projects.
