Permaculture Baw Baw Group
Permaculture Baw Baw is a friendly group of people who live in the Baw Baw shire with a common interest in permaculture and in living sustainably. Some of us live on suburban blocks and some on small rural acreages. We aim to share our successes and failures in growing food organically, developing healthy soil, preparing and preserving food, exchanging surplus food, reducing our power and water use and to share recipes, seeds, growing tips and other ideas and resources. Activities include visits to members properties, food swap at local farmers markets, guest speakers at meetings, grafting workshops.
Our monthly meetings are held at the Warragul Community House, Normandy Street, Warragul on the first Thursday of the month from 7.30pm. We welcome new members and hope to see you there soon!

Transition Baw Baw
Transition Baw Baw is a local community group starting up a "Transition Town" initiative in the area. The Transition Town concept tackles Peak Oil and Climate Change in the one go and looks at ways to make our community more resilient while actively raising awareness through films, produce swaps and community garden projects. Our website is full of activities, tips and resources.
Growing Together Community Garden Network
The Growing Together Community Garden Network aims to encourage a healthy community gardening program in the Baw Baw Shire by supporting and linking Community Gardeners. The Network is made up of like minded interested individuals and organisations from across Baw Baw Shire. We're committed to making community gardening an integral part of our future. We embrace organic community gardening and see it as an important link between a diverse range of people. The community gardens are situated on a range of properties including parks, schools, churches, and more.
Latrobe Valley Field Naturalists Club
The Club aims to foster an enjoyment of the world of nature and preservation of the flora and fauna of the Latrobe region. The Club has regular monthly meetings and excursions and has become involved in local conservation and preservation of the Latrobe region.
The club meets on the fourth Friday of each month at 7:30pm at the Latrobe Community Health Service, 42 Fowler Street, Moe. Guest speakers cover a variety of topics relating to our natural environment and its protection. Meetings include reports on club activities such as conservation work, representatives on committees and correspondence.
Following the Friday meeting an excursion is held on Saturday to view areas or items of environmental interest, often related to the evening's topic. Leaders are experienced naturalists who are willing to share their expertise. Spring and summer camps are held at locations further afield.
West Gippsland Seedbank
West Gippsland Seedbank is a local Not For Profit organisation that collects indigenous seeds from the West Gippsland region under permit, then dries, cleans, and stores seed ready for sale. The Seedbank is now more conveniently located onsite at the Shire Depot.
