 VRFish Recreational Fishing Open House West Gippsland Catchment  
Saturday, 6 February 2010 RFish, the Victorian Recreational Fishing Peak Body, is committed to representing and advocating the interests of the Victorian recreational fishing community.

The purpose of the Recreational Fishing Open House is to implement strategies and actions defined in Fishery Management Plans. VRFish has been charged with the responsibility of implementing key elements of the fishery management plans, such as maintain or improve fishing access, facilities & opportunities and promote protection of important fish habitats.

The West Gippsland Open House will assist by giving the recreational fishing community an opportunity to identify key projects for the West Gippsland Catchment.

 Drouin Ficifolia Festival

The 22nd Drouin Ficifolia Festival offers something for everyone.
The varied program features old favourites such as Party in the Park, Poetry Night, Gourmet Winery Wander, Artist Studio Tour and the Big Walk.
Sporting groups and Community Organisations will offer various entertainment including CWA Exhibition, 3BBR-FM Open Day, Soccer, Golf, Lawn Bowls and Croquet events.
The theme for the Street Parade is "A Sporting Life" which will sure to bring the centre of Drouin alive with colour and energy.
2010 will see a new exciting event, Movie with the Stars, with an outdoor cinema coming to Drouin.

 The Big Walk  
Sunday, 14 February 2010 Part of the Drouin Ficifolia Festival, this year the Big Walk will feature a young families/pram walk around the area known as Drouin Springs at the Drouin end of the Two Towns Trail.

Starting at the Keith Pretty Sound shell in Civic Park with other walkers at 8.30am, families will walk up Hopetoun Road before entering the new Drouin Springs walking area. Families will have the choice then of two level circuit walks, a shorter or longer version on a mixture of concrete paths and flat gravel paths. Both circuits are easy walking, level paths. The walks take you past ponds and over bridges.

A treasure hunt for children will be offered with prizes for all who participate.

Of course there are the well known longer walks for those who want to walk further; 9.5kms and 13.5kms around the environs of Drouin.

All walks are clearly labelled and marshalled.

Registration from 8.00am; Warmups at 8.15am and starting at 8.30am
At the Keith Pretty Sound Shell, Civic Park, Drouin.

Walkers need to dress according to the weather and carry water and any snacks they require. Dogs on leads are welcome.
