Professional Business Advice
Depending on the type of business there are several levels of assistance that you may be able to access.
If you are a small business and are looking for assistance to work through business issues, an independent review of your current position, or want someone more experienced to provide advice and support, you can talk to someone from The Small Business Mentoring Service (SBMS).
The SBMS offers access to multiple mentoring sessions over usually up to four sessions or more depending on your individual situation. The Small Business Mentoring Service offers access to over 100 Victorian mentors and a wide range of online tools to assist you to improve your business.
The SBMS has also established The Small Business Institute to provide support and advocacy that builds on the experience gained by SBMS over the last 25 years to deliver a portfolio of small business training and support programs across Victoria.
There will be times when you need an independent consultant to provide detailed investigation and business support. When considering selecting a consultant you should prepare a brief, outlining you needs and what you are expecting the consultant to provide. It is recommended that you seek several quotes for the work and engage the consultant the best meets the needs of the brief.
Finding a consultant is not always an easy task. There are a number of associations that provide listing services for their consulting members, including the Institute of Management Consultants and Consult Australia, (formerly The Association of Consulting Engineers of Australia).
