Finalist Breakfast

Mayor Cr Ruth McGowan welcomed over 120 guests including sponsors, judges and entrants as they gathered at the SP AusNet 2009 Baw Baw Business Excellence Awards Finalists’ Breakfast at Debritz Restaurant at the West Gippsland Art Centre on Thursday 22 October.

Baw Baw Shire Council CEO, David Powell and SP AusNet Eastern Region Manager, Jim Haylock, congratulated the diverse range of businesses that had entered this year’s awards and thanked the individual category sponsors and judges for their valuable contribution. Special mention was made of the “Young Achievers” category, which produced 3 finalists from Baw Baw Shire, aged 15 to 21, who are studying or in the workplace locally.

This year saw the introduction of the People’s Choice category, which received an over whelming response of over 60 individual businesses in Baw Baw Shire nominated.

Businesses reaching the finals in one or more categories will now be judged to determine the category award winners and the overall SP AusNet Baw Baw 2009 Business of the Year. Awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner to be held at the Warragul Club Downtowner on Friday 13 November, hosted by 531 3GG radio presenter, Andrew Deak.
