National Meals on Wheels Day Wednesday 26 August 2009
Baw Baw Shire Council will celebrate national Meals on Wheels Day with the delivery of chocolate chip cookies and a place-mat from Meals Victoria to clients on Wednesday. These will be delivered with their meal by our very valuable group of volunteers.
Two Towns Trail- Community Opening and Celebration
Two Towns Trail- Community Opening and Celebration Baw Baw Shire Council is inviting residents and visitors to the community opening and celebration of the Two Towns Trail, this Father’s Day on Sunday 6 September 2009. The celebration will occur at Civic Park in Drouin from 10.15am to lunch time.

Baw Baw Shire Council Community Assistance Gift funding received Mayor Cr McGowan today announced that the council’s application for the Community Assistance Gift (formerly known as the Local Government Disaster Assistance and Recovery Services Payment) of $440,000 from the Bushfire Appeal Fund has been successful.

Youth participate in World Café at Synergy Student Breakfast Baw Baw Shire Council hosted the second synergy breakfast for the year recently with youth leaders and principals from secondary schools across Baw Baw Shire.

Reminder of new signage in McCrorey Street Trafalgar New ‘No Standing’ signs have been erected in McCrorey Street Trafalgar in front of the new supermarket. Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Powell said, “we are keen to maintain community safety and encourage people not to park in this area as Council’s community compliance officers will be patrolling the area at random intervals.”
Road Safety in Rural Communities – Traffic and Safety Survey
As part of Baw Baw Shire Council’s road safety strategy, Council has sent out a road traffic and safety survey to the rural communities of Longwarry, Noojee, Jindivick, Tanjil Bren, Thorpdale and Neerim South seeking input from residents.
Walter Mikac shares his experience with bushfire affected residents at Jindivick
Walter Mikac, a survivor of the Port Arthur tragedy in 1996, visited The Barn in Jindivick recently to speak with bushfire affected residents. He spoke of his experiences dealing with the tragic loss of his wife and two daughters Alannah and Madeline.
2009 Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey
The Department of Planning and Community Development recently released the Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey for 2009. This survey is conducted by Wallis consulting group to provide a valuable overview of how communities view the performance of councils across Victoria.
