| On Thursday 25 June Baw Baw Shire Council held a citizenship ceremony for 6 new Australian citizens. Deputy Mayor Councillor Adam Tyson performed the ceremony with Councillors Tricia Jones, David Balfour and John Durrant along with friends and family of the candidates watching on. |

 | Baw Baw Shire receives Cities for Climate Protection Milestone 5 award |

| ICLEI Oceania, in conjunction with the Department of Sustainability and Environment organised an event on 28 May 2009 at Bendigo to recognise the achievements of Victorian rural councils who have participated in the Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Victoria program over the past seven years.
The event was attended by the Victorian Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Hon Gavin Jennings who awarded Councils for their recent achievements in tackling the challenges of climate change. |

| Council is responsible for the maintenance of 59 road bridges. Many of these road bridges were built before 1960 when vehicle loads were significantly less than current day legal load limits. |
