Bushfire recovery, stay informed..
Victorians affected by the recent bushfires can now access information in four ways to help stay informed as their properties and communities are rebuilt.
AUTUMN 2009 PLANNED BURNS BEGIN ACROSS VICTORIA
Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings said planned burns would be conducted at strategic locations to improve protection for townships as well as provide ecological benefits and fuel reduction.

2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission Community consultation sessions for fire-affected communities The 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission will be holding a community consultation session in Labertouche on Thursday 2 April. The Building Commission is running free seminars on the new building standards for the general public and building practitioners.
Warragul Leisure Centre Redevelopment
The Warragul Leisure Centre Redevelopment Committee has recommended to Council the need for an updated needs identification study to provide recommendations to Council and path the way for future government support of new facilities. This project will only be possible with support form external funding agencies.
MEETING OF YOUNG CREATIVE MINDS
MEETING OF YOUNG CREATIVE MINDS Young Baw Baw Shire artists between the ages of 18-35 years are invited to a social get-together on Wednesday 18th, at 7:00pm at the Old Drouin Butter Factory. Visual artists, performers, writers, film makers and anyone that has a creative mind is encouraged to attend. This will be a chance to meet on a regular basis to share ideas with other artists.
Fire Prevention Officers continue to assess vacant blocks
Baw Baw Shire Council fire prevention officers assisted by officers from Whitehorse City Council completed another full round of fire inspections throughout the Shire in late 2008 and early 2009.

Bushfire affected property owners urged to register for state wide clean up. Baw Baw Shire property owners are encouraged to register for the free state-wide bushfire clean up. The state-wide bushfire clean up will be lead by Grocon and their contractors and is expected to begin very soon
Vandals Damage New Playground
A newly renovated children’s playground in Pederson Park, Warragul was damaged by vandals during the first weekend in March. The vandals snapped and dinted equipment at the popular playground in Steward Street, making parts of the equipment unusable and unsafe for children to play on.

Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority Invitation to Community Meeting Christine Nixon, Chair of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority (VBRRA), invites residents of the Labertouche, Robin Hood, Longwarry North, Drouin West, Gentle Annie, Jindivick, Noojee and Tarago areas to join her at a community meeting on Tuesday 3 March 2009.
